What connects us? Identities. Beliefs. Memories. Relationships.
In his latest original dance theater work, Conductor, Janusphere Dance Company director Darion Smith collaborates with dancers Misei Daimaru Smith, Jenelle Figgins, Kai Mortellaro, and Jacob Rice to explore common threads of human experience.
Like a journey through the surreal whimsy of a dreamscape, Conductor explores the invisible threads that tie us together. Through a series of quirky, otherworldly vignettes, the work holds up a funhouse mirror to 21st-century society. By leaning into our collective identity, beliefs, memories, and relationships, the dance transforms the beautiful absurdity of everyday life into an inspired, fantastical reflection of the modern world.
